New Free App Trust Onion Uses Rotating Family Codewords to Stop AI Voice-Cloning Scams
Read the release
About Trust Onion
Trust Onion is a free safety app that protects families, friends, and clubs against AI-powered voice cloning and impersonation scams. Every group sets up three rotating codewords that only they know. When someone calls claiming to be your kid, your parent, or your partner, one question settles it: “What are the words?” The app works offline, stores nothing on our servers, and takes 60 seconds to set up.
Why We Built This
We started Trust Onion because AI can now clone our voices, and our parents wouldn’t know the difference. A 30-second clip from social media is enough to generate a convincing fake call. There was no tool that gave regular families a simple way to verify who they’re actually talking to. So we built one, made it free, and made it private.
