Pick someone from your family circle and send a one-tap alert asking them to call you right now. They see your note and know you need them.

Benefits

Make trust easy, simplify your family's safety

Trust Onion generates three private codewords that only your family can see. They change every 60 seconds, so even if someone overhears them, they've already expired.

Codewords only your family see

Trust Onion generates three rotating codewords visible only to your family group. When someone calls or texts claiming to be a loved one, ask for the words. No words, no trust.

See them, believe them

Request a proofie anytime. A timestamped, location verified selfie to prove its them. You see their face and know it's safe.

No tech knowledge needed

Designed for the least technical of us, Trust Onion helps ensure identity verification with just one click.

Add layers as threats grow

Start with codewords. Add photo verification. Upgrade to location proof. Each layer peels back more certainty, like an onion.

How It Works

Three steps. That's it.

Trust Onion fits into the way your family already communicates. No new habits, no complicated setup.

Open the app

Download Trust Onion and join your family group with a QR code scan. The app generates rotating codewords that only your group can see. No accounts, no passwords.

Use it when it matters

Urgent call from your kid? Ask for the word. They say it, you know it's them. They can't, you hang up and call them directly.

Add a photo for extra proof

For higher-stakes moments, request a live selfie. The photo is timestamped and checked so you know it was taken right now, not pulled from social media.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions, clear answers

Everything you need to know before protecting your family.

Is Trust Onion free?

Yes. Trust Onion is free to download and use. Family codewords, group verification, and Proofies are all included at no cost. No credit card, no trial period, no paywall.

Why is it free?

Because we built it to protect our own families. Trust Onion is completely free, with no paid plan, no credit card, and no paywall. Every feature is included: unlimited family members, rotating family codewords, the iMessage extension, verifying any Proofie, and creating up to 3 Proofies a month. We made the tool that keeps our parents safe, and now we share it with you.

Is it easy enough for my parents or grandparents to use?

100% Yes. Trust Onion was designed to pass the "mom test." Download the app, scan a QR code to join your family group, and you can see the codewords immediately. No account creation required for basic use. No technical knowledge needed. If someone in your family can open an app, they can use Trust Onion with confidence.

How do family codewords stop a scam call or text?

When someone calls or texts claiming to be a family member, you ask: "What are the codewords?" Trust Onion generates shared codewords that rotate every 60 seconds, visible only to your family group on the Trust Onion app. A real family member opens the app and reads them back, only you and them have access to those words. A scammer with a cloned voice has nothing to say. The call ends in three seconds.

Can scammers steal or guess the codewords?

No. Codewords are calculated locally on each device with no server involved, nothing exists outside your phone. They're never transmitted over the internet, so there's nothing to intercept. It works even in airplane mode. They rotate automatically, so even if one were overheard, it expires before anyone could use it.

Does Trust Onion collect my location or personal data?

No. Trust Onion is built with privacy at its core. Codewords are generated on your device and never touch our servers. We don't track your location unless you choose to include it in a Proofie, and we don't ingest that data either, just pass it to your recipient. We don't sell data, serve ads, or share your information with third parties.
